The Ojai City Council passed a carryout bag ordinance on April 10th 2012 that bans plastic checkout bags at all retailers. Ojai is a leader in California by being the first city in Ventura County to ban plastic bags thanks to the tireless work of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition and the Surfrider Foundation! The bag ban was made statewide last November - at least something good happened in that election. I have been using reusable bags for many years - long before the Ojai ban but still see many people at the market without reusable bags. I hope to help change that......one reusable bag at a time!
