Out of curiosity, has anyone tried to knit a morsbag? I'm addicted to crafting, but since my sewing machine is working against me (won't do a damn thing...) I've taken up knitting. So, now I'm curious what that would look like...hmmm
I have tried knitting bags before, on large needles from strips of scrap fabric (way ago before morsbags.......and before the internet) - found they ended up really heavy and quite stretchy - great for fitting in loads of shopping but then you looked ridiculous when your shoulder bag reached down to the ground!
I think a knitted bag would be beautiful. The only down side is that you'll have to line it so it doesn't stretch. Another idea would be to knit and then felt it. If felted, it will not stretch out of shape and will be very durable.
Here in the states, the term "felted" is when you intentionally lock wool fibers together into a dense fabric. I'm sure people have felted things by accident when they wash a knitted wool garment in warm water and it comes out as a small dense mass of wool. If you knit a huge wool tote and then wash it in warm water, I suppose it would come out as a nice thick, strong morsbag! What is this process called on your side of the world?
