Calstock "Green" Festival 2011

Postby beattie » Tue May 10, 2011 7:02 pm

We've been invited back to the pretty village of Calstock, just inside Cornwall on the Devon/ Cornwall border. The River Tamar that forms the border between the two counties flows beside the village green where the festival takes place and makes an interesting backdrop with passing canoeists and boaty types floating by.

We'll be there again on Saturday 4th June, not quite so close to the music this time. It was great to be central and part of the action, but we did need to shout nearly all day. :? Bex, the organiser tells me we've got a spot at the back of the field this time.

We had a lovely time in perfect weather last year - will it hold for another gorgeous day out? Offcuts can't come and join us this time :( as she's coming to Cornwall later in the year :D , and Ivybags doesn't know about it yet  as she's incommunicado on another continent.

Masterclock and I will be helping people make morsbags on vintage hand crank sewing machines again on Saturday June 4th between noon and 5pm. If you'd like to join us, you'd be very welcome - please PM me if you want to come too. :D

Oooh I remember you doing this gig before Beattie - I would love to join you but we'll be travelling home from The Lakes that day. :x

I'm sure you'll have a great time though - good luck, I look forward to more pictures this year. :)

I'm sure we will, thanks Offcuts. We'll try for more pics Sazzie - the people were interesting last year. I'm sure they'll be just as photogenic this time. Hope you have a lovely time in the Lakes - it's one of my fave places but I haven't been for over 30 years. I'm sure the mountains look just the same though. :D

I love the shapes in the photo. I find myself looking for triangles (bunting, gazebos) and circles (viaduct and MC) :D

You're right - Masterclock's head would just fit into one of the viaduct arches. :D

I've just heard from Leafie B of Ashburton Futures pod. She doesn't come on the forum, but we've done several gigs together in the past - she lives a few miles up the main road from Ivybags. She'll be joining us in Calstock that afternoon. Hooray! Leafie has several old handcrank sewing machines to choose from. I wonder which one she'll bring?

This photo belongs to last year's thread, really, but I got it today from Bex who organises the Festival. Shows Masterclock helping some chaps from due east (not Kent, it could have been Lithuania) to sew a bag. Yayyy!! :D

Hope your hand is doing OK - I didn't know that bit was giving trouble. I did wonder whose machine it was - didn't think it was ours.

I've just spoken to the chap who looks after the gazebo I'm borrowing - he's bringing it round this morning. Then we need to choose which of the hand cranks to bring with us. I have lots of kits, cut out and ironed, a folding table, some stools to perch on.... and the weather forecast's looking very good! :D
