Been trying out the new techniques I learned on Saturday to make Morsbags faster ... I've made 8: 3 yesterday and 5 this morning. Average about half an hour a bag now, instead of an hour!

Great bags, Loopy. More bags for your daughter to give away as well! :D

Cool! I'm all bagged out at the moment! I might get a machine out later but can't do it just now - the sun's too bright and too many new plants need a drink. 8)

Excellent bags Loopy - I am pleased you are finding the new techniques are helping you :D I like the green/blue striped bag. :)

I know what you mean Beattie about the weather, it is beautiful in Lancashire today, warm and sunny so I'm spending the day with my Mum, no bagging for me today.... unless I make a sneaky bag or two later tonight

Thanks girls... Offcuts, I might not have to rely on my daughter now, I've found a couple of potential outlets locally. The local community wardens are organising a craft fair in the local country park in a couple of months and said I could go along to that to give them away, and possibly take a display and/or my machine. It will be in the car park but there is a visitor centre where I could get electricity. Depends on how isolated from the other stalls I'd be. Also, there is a farmer's market every 3rd Saturday in the next village up (which is really part of ours), and they said I could distribute them there too. I can't make the May one, the next one will be 19th June, so I might get a few more made by then. (Really need to concentrate on my patchwork quilt that has to be made and ready to take on holiday in September).

Also, my mum said that she'd have a few for her friends at bowls, plus sis in law wanted a couple (just remembered!).

I've been promised fabric by a couple of people at the local warden-run breakfast club too. Now all I need is some people who can sew to help me, and time!!!

That is such good news Loopy. Farmer's markets are great. The stall holders are usually very happy to give out morsbags with their produce. Don't feel under pressure to take a certain number or go every month. Thats the good thing about morsbagging...you can do it as and when you have time. Great news that you have some new outlets. I am hoping that UkAware gave you confidence to do these local events. I am wondering if Mr Loopy will be giving you a hand! 8)

Lovely bags Loopy, and it's great that you're finding more and more opportunities to give them away and spread the word by sewing in public. Before you know where you are you'll be taking a hand crank with you to shows and markets like Offcuts does. It takes a bit longer to make a bag on a hand crank but they get a lot of interest from passing baggees and you can even bag in a field if you want to! :D

I have just had a mental picture of Loopy in the middle of a field sewing morsbags on a handcrank, surrounded by a ring of cows. Gertrude says to Ermentrude "I hope she makes us all one!"

This looks very like my new machine - including the carving on the box and the tension apparatus on top

Or there's this one -

Saxonia is mentioned a couple of times on the "sewing machine bible" website. It's the second one down on this page.

hmmmm, I don't know that I'd be sitting in a field making them..... I don't have a hand crank machine yet.... Mr Loopy is complaining that I've got 2 electric ones as it is... I told him, it's one each now that he knows how to make bags! So far he hasn't shown any interest in helping me.... apart from chatting about it with some people at a breakfast club the other day.

I expect that he'll come along to the craft fair and Farmer's Market with me, even if just to keep me company! And who knows, I may just get him making bags yet!

At least he's had a go and made a lovely bag that anyone would be pleased to use. Loopypaul can be your support worker. Grumpy doesn't sew either but he's absolutely essential to Offcuts' operation. :D
