Win great prizes incl a Trip for a family of 4 to India!!

Postby pol » Wed Feb 10, 2010 7:33 pm

BIG COMPETITION NEWS!! Twisted Thread, who run the Knitting and Stitching Shows, and Morsbags have teamed up to launch a fabby competition which I hope you'll all enter and spread the word about for others to enter.

Click here for downloadable pdf. http://www.morsbags.com/TTmorsbag-comp.pdf

There are super prizes on offer, many donated by the wonderfully kind people at Coats Crafts UK and, for the younger entrants, the chance for a family of 4 to win a Trip to India! 8)

Adults
For individual adults, there are three categories to choose from:

Design Perfection - “Simply gorgeous and retro”

One for the boys - “The Morsbag a real man can take to the shops”

Humour - “The Morsbag that makes us all smile”

Young People
We are really hoping that the Morsbag competition will be adopted by teachers either within the classroom or as an after school crafts project. It’s a great way to introduce textile skills but linked in with a whole range of super relevant issues from the environment and recycling to fair trade and animal protection.

There will be individual categories for children of different age groups, being:
• Child aged 5 to 8
• Child aged 9 to 11
• Child aged 12 to 16
• Young Person aged 17 to 18

There will also be categories for classes and school clubs being:
• Class or Group from years 1 to 3
• Class or Group from years 4 to 6
• Class or Group from years 7 to 11
• Class or Group from years 12 and 13

So everyone here please, please do enter the adult section and please, please tell your local school, children and grandchildren!

There's also a place for pods, existing or new, to tell their 'morsbaggy' stories (re pod meetings, making morsbags, handouts - any morsbag experience reallly..) with photos which will be put on a big display at the NEC alongside the competition entries for everyone to admire - so please do send in to this too.

Here's all you need to know: http://www.morsbags.com/TTmorsbag-comp.pdf

Good luck everyone and don't forget to send in your entry forms by Friday 18th June!!!

Thank you Anna at Twisted Thread for being a brick!

This is an amazing competition and will create excellent publicity for morsbags. Thank you so much Pol and Joby for organizing it, I can only imagine how much time this has taken to get right.

My thinking cap is on and already working on ideas for the adult competition, not to mention how I can draw this competition to the attention of local schools.

My idea for local schools is to send them a completed morsbag, a competition form and a covering letter explaining a bit more about morsbags, the ethos, the benefits to them of getting involved and how it links to the curriculum and eco schools award.... my project for half term next week I think.

Oh my gosh, how fun is this? I don't even know if us US-ers are allowed to be in it, but I think this is a good excuse to make an artistic morsbag, which I don't normally do!

Also I forwarded this link onto my little sister, so hopefully she can get some of her youth group kids moving on it :)

I had a lovely afternoon with Lutterbags today. We made bags with two of the students from Lutterworth College. One of which was being beaded and bowed (bag not student)

I took them in an entry form and info about the competition. Can I just clarify that the catagories (bag to make you laugh etc) only apply to the adults.

bump.... please remember to get your entry forms in for this competition... even if you are just telling the story of your pod. Remember this represents an excellent opportunity to promote morsbags.

It was a leaflet advertising this competition that brought Morsbags to my attention. I have applied to enter two bags in the adult category, but having looked at some of the pictures of bags in previous comps have told myself that it's the taking part that matters. :) am having such fun making bags, just a bit nervous about handing them out. My daughter says she'll come and help. Love reading all the posts. :P

Thank You Offcuts for your encouragement, I have already found a great piece of "mantype" cotton in my rag bag, and am trying desperately to think of something humorous for the other. :)
