Leeds podders where are you? I thought I saw someone on from Leeds but now have lost my way around the website. Would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction to join you. Until then i'll be in the veg patch in the garden.

I've just joined this group and am in Leeds. I did send an email to the Leeds Pod shown in the Pod Portal but have no response yet. So hopefully that should be at least 3 of us in Leeds.

Hi, I'm in Leeds, just joined yesterday, (I'm a solo pod!). Not made any bags yet but I have cut some out today and ordered 100 labels. Been round the carboots this morning and picked up a duvet set for the princely sum of 20p, would you believe! I am a member of freecycle and responded to an ad for material, and when the lady came to collect it, she told me about this idea and I just had to get involved. I love the thought of all those people around the world, stitching away to save the planet! :D

Hi Bren - great to have you join us here in Leeds. This city needs more Pods, solo or group.

I'm the lady who collected the fabric from you on Friday. Fris is the lady who posted the Freecycle ad, and who I'll be delivering the fabric to on Tuesday.

You've got our emails if you want to get in touch. Enjoy your sewing!

Hi Fris, could you tell me how long the labels take to arrive? It's only been a week since I ordered them but I'm itching to get some out! Got four large pieces of furnishing fabric from the carboot today for just £1 :D

Hi Bren
I can't remember but I think it depends on the demand. Mine were ordered through my Young Man's online account which he thought was quite funny that anyone should think him a Seamstress
They should be with you this next week I'm sure but AK should have a better idea as she orders more frequently.
By the way another lady just contacted me through freecycle regarding giving me fabric too. Who knows she might join us, I gave her the Website address.
How's the bagging going with you?

Thanks for that, I'll keep looking for the postie! Got bags made but I'm not handing them out until I get the labels on, as I do think that advertising what we are doing is important. I did intend to send some to my head office with a letter asking what our company is doing about cutting down carrier bag usage. ( I work for Greggs ). We do hand out a lot of free bags in the shops and I have been concerned about this for a while now. A lot of people refuse them, and this is great, but you always get the uncaring buying one donot or sausage roll and then demanding a bag, which we have to give them. Well, last week we had a memo sent out to explain the new bag policy, which is, we don't automatically pack two or more items into a bag as we used to, nor should we offer a bag to customers. If we are asked for a bag then we have to give them out but it should cut down the numbers quite substantially. We also have a notice to put on the shop counter, asking customers if they really need a bag and why cutting them down is important. I'm hoping this might eventually lead to charging for them which will be even better. So I am proud to say that my company is trying to help! It will hopefully make a difference as Greggs shops are all over the country, we have over 160 in yorkshire alone. So I will still send some bags to head office but with a letter thanking them for taking action, and hopefully I might even get some material from the bakery staff.

Well done Bren, I'm sure your company will be interested to know about the action you're taking. I'm sure that if you send some to HO they'd consider doing something. It's hard to ignore Employees who take a stand.
I had a whole discussion yesterday with a customer at my work as to why it was good that we were no longer just blindly shoving purchases into plastic. My company produced paper bags a few months ago but unfortunately have not quite got the hang of not sending plastic as they still think there's a demand for putting larger items in plastic. For goodness sake they're only taking things to their cars parked directly outside! I got on to them like you about Fabric bags but then when they caught on to the idea they charged for them instead of giving them out free to valued customers. Commercialism eh!
As for people with a single donut or pasty is it so difficult to transport it back to the office without a plastic bag. Grr where's my soapbox to stand on! :x

Hi Bren
Have you got your labels yet? AK asked me if you had when we went to the vintage fair this weekend with our bags in tow.

yes, the labels came last week, I've not been well the last few days but getting over it now and busy sewing! I've managed to pick up some nice bits of fabric from the carboots and friends and family are looking out for materials as well. I wanted to put a pic of my first bag on but I don't know how to so just imagine it instead! It's white and blue floral furnishing fabric and it's staying with me, being my firstborn :D

Hi to upload a pic to here many use flickr to do so. Personally I use photobucket as there are no limits as to how many pics you can upload a month. but the choice is yours. If you pay Flickr and go pro there are no limits.

Here is the way I do it for a guide
Sign up to www.photobucket.com (if you use firefox there may be some probs with this - no probs whatsoever with Internet Explorer)

Then go to bulk uploader.

It will ask you where you want to look. Find the files on your computer and click upload.

When they have been uploaded you can then go and edit them. Always necessary if you want to have a decent pic and not one that is humungous that makes the use of the scroll slidy bar necessary to view it.

When editing I always use the resize button first then click in the preset sizes and click medium.

Then I save as a copy - yes this means 2 pics of the same but in the past when I have tried to click back to a bigger size it doesn't give me the option. Eitherway its no big shakes if you dont save as a copy cos you have always got the original on your pc to upload again if needs be.

Then once you have saved, below the picture and to the right will be various options ie Share URL - Email & IM, Direct Link - Layout Pages,
HTML Code - Websites & Blogs, IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards

You just highlight which one you want and it automatically copies the link and you then paste this in your posting. For this I use the Image code link and eh voila you have a piccy posted.

I hope this helps some. :D
