April Pod Meeting at Brocks Hill Environment Centre

Postby Offcuts » Sun Apr 22, 2012 5:22 pm

We had a great day again at our pod meeting at Brocks Hill despite low footfall due to inclemant weather. Morsbaggers were Tori,Kay, Mary Scissorhands and myself. We were also joined by Hannah from Leicester High School for Girls pod, and her mum. We were sharing the hall with the lovely William who was representing the county council with information about composting, re-using and recycling. He was our only man who made a bag this time!. Here are other matters arising!

Almost certain free storage for fabric in Oadby

Nappochino (Re-usable nappies) lady interested in combining morsbags and nappies

Several people took fabric and kits to make bags at home

Here is Hannah making a Simpsons bag. Prize for the first person to guess who it is for. (non-Leics guesses only!)

Lots of good things accomplished today then! Free fabric storage would be excellent!! Good to see more people making bags with you. :D Nappochino is a great name! I can see there would be possiblilities to combine. Blackout material?
No idea who the Simpsons bag could be for - with a Leicester connection I assume. Googling "Simpson" and "Leicester" leads me to M. J. Simpson, who according to Wikipedia, is
a former deputy editor of the British science fiction magazine SFX. The Leicester-based freelance journalist is the author of two books on the television writer and novelist Douglas Adams and his work:
The Pocket Essentials Hitchhiker's Guide
Hitchhiker: A Biography of Douglas Adams, an unauthorised biography.

He produces a website focused upon genre cinema and is currently working on a biography of the actress Elsa Lanchester.

Simpson is one of the occasional judges for the Delta Film Award.

Simpson was for many years involved in running ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha, the official Hitchhiker's Guide appreciation society.

Douglas Adams was a genius who left us all far too soon  . And there's a film connection there too...... Perhaps you are hoping to bag him at a filmic event? :?:

PS, I find he helped test a new gadget that monitors blood pressure in the aorta -

And there's another Mike Simpson who seems to play for a football team that has something to do with Leicester......
Is it the same Mike Simpson or a different one who is director of County Vending Ltd?

Why are all Simpsons in Leicester called Mike?

You want to give it to Julian Simpson, who according to Linkdin is
Looking for solutions / commercial development role in logistics/supplychain or project management role
Leicester, United Kingdom | Logistics and Supply Chain

You've twisted his arm to transport fabric from Lynne to you?

 If we ever come into contact we shall give them a simpson bag! You're slightly barking up the wrong tree because the bagee doesn't live in Leics. The reason Leics morsbaggers are exempt is that I have told most of them who the bag is for!

so back to the drawing board, Beattie!! :D

I really enjoyed today. Every event is so different. As Offcuts said, there wasn't a huge amount of people today but everyone that we spoke to was so interested in what we did and wanted to do more. Great stuff!
And my lips are sealed about the Simpsons bag

Ok. I'll give you a clue. The person is nothing to do with Simpson or simpson names in fact I don't even know if he likes the Simpsons but I think he will like the bag. It is Simpsons making faces so is funny and we know he has a good sense of humour. He is very high profile. We are also sending his wife some bags. :D

You got lots done at that meeting and achieved masses despite the lower footfall. But the rest of this thread is far too intellectual for me to be able to follow and join in!  :?
