A Diamond of a Competition

Postby sazziej » Wed Feb 08, 2012 3:34 pm

This year will see huge celebrations throughout the UK, we all know about the Olympics .. But first we have The Queens Diamond Jubilee to celebrate!

I think it's only right that morsbags join in the fun, so get your best party dress and hat ready (or bow tie if you're masterclock or Bernie)... And get creating.

Design a morsbag to celebrate the Jubilee Year..... Enter as many times as you wish, closing date for entries is Monday 4th June 2012, midnight, London time.

Prizes will be announced soon, there will be one overall winner and two runners up.

Please post pictures of your entries here, no comments on this page please to make judging easier... I will start a comment thread under morsbag chat... Good luck and have fun!

OK, I'll be brave and get the ball rolling.....

I used some cream fabric I was given which had the pleats sewn into it - ideal for creating a '3D' effect for the bunting! I wanted to include a corgi and incorporated the Morsbags logo into a 'speech bubble'!!

Hope you like it - and I'll be taking it with me next Thursday when the Queen visits Leicester so see if you spot it on the news reports!

The judging has taken place.... And the winner and two runners up have been chosen.

I asked my mum to judge the competition, I thought that this was appropriate as not only was she the person who taught me to sew when I first heard about morsbags, but she has also been glued to her tv for most of the weekend watching as much coverage of the jubilee celebrations as she could.

She said she found the judging very difficult and was impressed by the effort that everybody had put into their designs / bags.

The two runners up (in no particular order) are -

* Agwen - for her diamond appliquéd bag - the judge said 'fitting in every way'

And

* Krisaby - for her first flowery bag (red gingham flower with button centre) - the judge said it was 'a timeless morsbag that she would be proud to carry'

The overall winner is..........

* Sarah from Harborough Hit Bags - for her Union Jack morsbag - the judge loved the 'shabby chic design '.

If the three winners could please pm me with their addresses details I will get their small prizes in the post to them ASAP.
Many thanks again to everybody who entered .
