70's Groovy bags competition :)

super quick challenge competition!

real retro fabric

Postby squeak42 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 8:42 pm

Hi,
got given some fabric today from a friend of my mums. She had been to clear out a house of an elderly man who had recently died. His wife had died in 1974 and all her things were still in the house - including sewing things and partly made dresses - see pics:

So authentic grooovy 70's fabric!
I've just cut out and ironed from the darker one - will be posted tomorrow for Tuesday - only one so not joining in the competition but thought it was appropriate for this - I am hoping the bags aren't just for a photo shoot but are being given out to real people? Hope so...

Don't know how you all make bags so quickly! - I've got about 50 sat there made up but it has taken a while and a wet weekend and a cold have helped... I am preempting the handout though - am taking about 25 to our CVS to friends tomorrow - having lunch there so good opportunity.

more random acts of kindness required in this world....

Joby has been giving me updates but nothing can even remotely describe the wondrousness of what's been going on on the forum! :D The most FABULOUSLY retro groovy bags, the most incredible outpouring of 70's memories, visions and vocab, AND yet another amazing pulling together of teamwork to make and send in over 150 themed bags in 7 days!!! :D :D 8)

I've been gnawing my fingernails imagining how it was all going, but you've all been on fire! It took me ages to read all the postings as there were so many pictures to admire and conjured-up sensations to remember (and I was a 1976-er so was surprised at how familiar lots of things seemed) and gratitude to be felt to you hard-working baggers who support morsbags every time. Thank you so much. Off to collect the bags on Tuesday and simply can't wait to see them :D

WOW!!!!!!!!

Well, Joby and I had taken the boat on a voyage to Paddington for a change and an easy hop-off to work - but broke down on the way back home and have just spent the last couple of hours of pitch black behind Mick The Tug, which was nail biting only because I was SO desperate to get back and find the morsbags parcels that joby's brother had dropped off.... the bags delivered are simply AMAZING and totally retro mega groovy and I can't thank you enough for finding the best material ever, whizzing them up at top speed, deciding to part with them and trekking to the post office and sending them to us. :D

Just to put minds at rest, here are the bags that we've received and fingers tightly crossed that the rest arrive tomorrow  but we won't mention prize winners 'til they're all here.... We have 102 right now...

I think if you do special delivery and they don't arrive I think you get compensation but not sure, perhaps look on Royal mail website
