Another 40 fought their way through today, and yesterday a package of bags was delivered by the postlady who wasn't actually working but thought it looked like a friendly parcel and like it really should be delivered :!: Thank you everyone!

Overall total coming soon.... :)

Sew on Morsbag labels

Postby Val » Sat Jun 30, 2007 2:14 pm

Hi Pol
I read on your post that you have ordered some SEW-ON labels. I would love some. Please can I buy some from you?
I am busy making bags and have just returned from Oxfam with a very very glittery ex-large top which will make two wonderful "special" bags. They look so much better with your logo and as you say the sew-on loables are much better.
I look forward to your reply so I can get the labels sewn onto my bags.
Good luck with the Virgin 1000 operation.
Have a lovely (if wet) weekend
Best wishes

Hope they streak through

PS what would be the collective noun for a bunch of bags?
I'm liking a "carry"of bags.........any other ideas?

What about a 'bevvy' of bags. Or A 'mass' of morses' ( or should it be MORSAE?) or A 'manifold' of morses ( manifold meaning 'many and varied') or a 'brigade' of bags

So i was at Ikea yesterday and check out their new campain! and the great thing was every one i saw in line was buy the reusable bag!

"Bag The Plastic Bag!"

Join IKEA in reducing waste and "Bag the Plastic Bag!"

IKEA is asking our customers to join us in reducing plastic bags usage by 50% - from 70 million to 35 million in the first year. Beginning March 15th we will charge 5 cents for every "throw-away" plastic bag. All proceeds* from the first year of this program will be donated to American Forests, the nation's oldest non-profit conservation organization, to plant trees and offset CO2
emissions.

WHY? The amount of plastic shopping bags that we all use once and toss is overwhelming.
- The average family of 4 accumulates 1460 plastic shopping bags a year
- 100 billion are given away each year in the US
- Plus it can take up to 1000 years for a plastic bag to break down in the environment.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE! IKEA has a great alternative to "throw-away" plastic bags- the IKEA Blue Bag. We've reduced the price on this large, reusable and durable bag to 59 cents. One of these bags can replace hundreds of "throw-away" plastic bags and has lots of great uses!

In the UK they charge 10p for a plastic bag (biodegradable) - they have a whole lot of info about their policy on charging for bags on their site http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/customer_s ... .html#0800

I guess we're a bit behind in the states :(

though Californina just passed a law that grocery stores have to have bag recycling programs in every store and offer cloth bags for sale and all plastic bags will be printed with info encoraging recyling. not as good as San Fran's total ban but at least they're thinking about the problem.

by the way my favorite store encourages bringing your own bag with a bag raffle. and this month i won a $25 gift certificate and a new bag!
