Wonky handles

Postby angiedesigns » Tue Jun 26, 2007 7:06 pm

MMm - yes - in all the excitement I made some with a twist in the handle - but hey - they still carry the mother load.

I don't much use a pattern anymore - as long as they end up about right - I am chuffed to peices!

I was going to post some of mine to my family but I think they better go to the big give-away instead - can't let that last 500 get us down can we!

EEEEKKKKKKK!!!!
Angie,
Looking forward to a morsbagging 2010

Don't worry about it, the labels aren't wasted, every one will be used.
The bags aren't going to waste on vip's, we have been trying for months to get certain people like this on our side, and they they all go to the supermarket surely?!?

if we tried to reach all these people through meetings and demonstrations and gave them a bag each it'll probably take up so much time that we wouldn't have time to run morsbags!

morsbags aren't just handy eco bags like every other commercial version, they are here to kick people and say - ' hey, what are you going to do about this problem? because all of us are doing something! ' so this is a great opportunity.

my post was a bit misleading, yes some of the first lot are going to be aimed at vip's but the rest will be 'guerillered' onto general joe smos at the fair as well.

I'm sure Keira will be very proud of her hand made, quirky bag and will love that the handles are twisted and that it doesn't clash with any other celeb there because they are all different!

believe me, as someone who works in television, and having gone to all these events where you get a 'gift bag' where everyone is carrying the same thing, I think it will be an amazing sight to see everyone carrying around such an amazing array of beautiful unique bags, a real talking point of the festival, v.i.p.'s and public together.

virgin know this, they could've saved a lot of hassle and ordered many more commercial bags for the same costs but they didn't, they said that they were drawn to the spirit and idea of morsbags and want to pass it on and promote it.

after friday has gone, i promise we can all get back to normal and enjoy our morsbags community, we all have seemed to have bonded over this and personally, I can't wait to change posts to talking about who we've bagged and how.

Brother(tm) have been very supportive to us and exciting things look promising!

Great stuff!

Postby zappers » Wed Jun 27, 2007 3:58 am

I think it is wonderful that you guys at morsbags have managed to get a big company like Virgin interested in the project. Three cheers for you lot I say :) This sort of publicity is usually 'an arm and a leg job.' It's going to be a great sight to see all those morsbags being carried at the fair, I hope its on telly :!: You are so right, much better than loads of plastic ones and Virgin are very fortunate and also clever to have 'tapped' in to such good publicityI may be a little provincial gal, but what is the fair all about? PS Joby1 just whisper to me what is going on with Brother nobody will hear - hee hee:wink:
By the way I am told that the article and photos of bags are going in the Herald Express (Torbay) today or tomorrow. (don't know why the delay) so that should be good, but it's unfortunate that I didn't know all I know now when I saw the reporter:!: Will send it to you when I get newspaper.
I have 30 bags to post, (it'll cost an arm and a leg :!: ) but one more day and still sewing - watch this space

Thursday's Deadline!

Postby clarebear » Wed Jun 27, 2007 10:50 am

Aww I don't think I am going to get time to make any bags this week, so I will miss the deadline. :(

However I will get back to making them asap. This week is just totally mad for me, but I am desperate to make another bag. Something to look forward to! :D

Little Moo is it a LOVELY bag, see you soon I hope.

I'm really busy this week and am away next week so can't make any more to help Virgin. But really all I want to do is make bags, shall I pack my sewing machine? With the weather as it is I doubt if I will be making sand castles ......

Oh heck, I've been heads-down with GCSEs etc. then went away and have been NO USE AT ALL! I will parcel up what I've got & send 'em off first thing tomorrow, then get cracking with more for my friends, who are always wandering off with them! Sorry...

Angie, contrite.

Edited to add: 8 parcelled up & will be posted first thing. 2 more made, and more cut & ironed; with a bit of luck we'll catch the last post with those too!

Another 6 caught the final post. They're not guaranteeing they'll get through, what with the strike, but our end isn't much affected apparently. Sorry I was so late catching on to this!

We've missed you thriftwizard! Thank you for the late surge - amazing work; bad timing with the strike for a few people...we'll see how many get there tomorrow. Hot line to mum's at the moment!

Likewise, pushed another 7 through the machine to get into the post today .....they look a bit naked without their labels though

Hope they streak through

PS what would be the collective noun for a bunch of bags?
I'm liking a "carry" of bags.........any other ideas?

heartwarming moments with the postman

Postby valbee42 » Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:42 pm

Each day has been like Christmas, waiting for the postman and his parcels containing morsbags. He has asked endless questions; unfortunately he doesnt sew, but I sent a message to his partner! All your bags, and messages inside the parcels, have been lovely and, although they are intended for Pol, I have looked at everything and passed it all on. My machine has never been cleaned and oiled so often in its long life, and is looking forward to a bit of a rest. I never realised being Pol's mum would involve sewing - she never showed any enthusiasm before this.

this whole rally has got me all reved up again. went to a local thrift store (sorry charity shop) and they had curtains 60% off! i found these rubber backed curtains that i thought was a great idea at the time but ooh does my sewing machine hate sewing them them. (they did turnout very cute though!) wish i wasn't so far away and could send you another batch.

How many got through in the end? The news programmes all gave the impression that the mail was at a total standstill, but we got a normal postal delivery yesterday.
