There's no time like right now....

Ever the optimist, today I agreed to give Virgin Trains 1000 morsbags by the end of June for them to hand out for free to the public in conjunction with their green campaign.

I found out that their Pendolino trains return power to the National Grid every time they brake, which is enough energy to power 11,825 homes a year, and they found out what a marvellously great and practical idea morsbags is!

They can really help us to advertise morsbags, big style, so that we can make an immediate difference to marine wildlife, so I really want to provide them with these bags. In return, they'll be able to use our idea to add to their green campaign.

We need to get sewing. Frantically. But I really believe we can do this. I visited a prison today who will help us out too - I'm meeting many different people through morsbags, all of whom are initially shocked by the idea that the bags are free, and who then want to know how they can help.

If YOU can help out for this deadline, I can reimburse you if you've had to pay for material (from charity shops) and will pay for your postage and packing of morsbags to me in London.

There should be some incentive prizes here soon for those who make bagtastic amounts of morsbags....

I'll keep a running total of how we're doing on this post - let me know who's up for helping, and watch this space! :)

Oooh what a fab idea - and it's always nice to have a goal. Am definately up for that, particularly as my maternity leave starts next week and I'll be needing something to keep myself occupied until Pudding is born!

I would be happy to send you the 4 bags I made today, however would it be Ok for YOU to put the logo on them please, as I'm still trying to work out how to do a reverse image ???? (any help appreciated) as I have some of the paper which needs reverse image to use up . (I don't want postal re-imbursemant btw)

How and when are Virgin going to give the bags away? Is the lovely Richard goin to do some ? If so, can I come tooo please ??

Lesley

Hi Lady B - how you get the image reversed for the labels can depend on what application you use to create them. Often there is a 'flip' option once you have selected the text. Sometimes you have to convert the text to a graphic first.

If you let me know what application you are using I can try and help if it is something I use...........

Simply sewing - you're a star! :D Thanks a million - don't forget to pm me for reimbursement stuff if needed. The tally is slowly rising; will have a nervous count up tonight....

Lady B - thanks for generous reimbursement comment and yes, of course you can send them logo-less and I'll deal with it, no problem. I've actually just ordered a bulk supply of morsbags labels which will hopefully be here soon. Downside is that they'll have to be sewn on, but will be more professional looking and more durable than the iron-on ones. Once they've actually arrived, I can send them out to people who want them etc...

The hand out is in Manchester - http://www.manchesterinternationalfestival.com 28th June - 15th July

I'm not sure if Richard will be there, but I hope so!! :) Perhaps he can donate some of his curtains or something to make into a morsbag :?:

Keep up the good work guys, I'm counting on you! x

No problem - there would have been 7 but I 'bagged' a friend who came round and noticed the bags on my table....!

Have also spread to word to a few friends who sew (not many around these days in my experience!) so hopefully one or two of them might make some.

If I get the chance I'll make some more (in between the curtains and roman blinds) they are quite refreshing in their simplicity.......

Wouldn't it be great if morsbags made sewing cool again!? Can't believe I'm saying this...I used to hate sewing at school! But like stitch and bitch has brought knitting back to the mainstream...Just thought of that because of your comments about not having many friends who sew. I'm sure that more than half the population of Britain has a sewing machine lurking somewhere in their homes though... Am I off the mark with this?

I'll do what I can

Postby LittleMoo » Wed Jun 13, 2007 6:41 pm

I'm without a machine so unable to produce any bags at the mo but I may be able to borrow my mum's machine so i'm aiming to have 5 bags made.

I'll be at the Manchester Festival on 7th July to see 'Monkey' so if you need any bags taking up there i'd be happy to help with that too :)
